Bangalore, Mar 30: Ace leg spinner Anil Kumble, who had scripted&13;many Indian victories in both one-day and test cricket, has decided to&13;hang up his boots in the shorter version of the game. The 36-year-old Kumble, who returned to the city early yesterday after&13;India's disastrous World Cup campaign in West Indies which ended in the&13;group stage, had already expressed his desire to retire from the&13;instant format of the game in Windies itself.
Kumble played only one match in the game's showpiece event --&13;against Bermuda claiming 3/38 -- of the three matches that India&13;played.
The genial sportsperson, who is better known for his ten wicket&13;haul in an innings against Pakistan only after English off break bowler&13;Jim Laker, had been the most successful one-day bowler for India,&13;claiming 337 wickets in 271 matches.
Kumble would be making the formal announcement at the Karnataka&13;State Cricket Association today evening, according to KSCA Secretary&13;Brijesh Patil.
