Ponting chooses to bat against Kiwis

St Georeg's (Grenada):Australia skipper Ponting won the toss and elected to bat in their final World Cup Super Eights match against New Zealand at the Grenada National Stadium on Friday.

All-rounder Shane Watson returned to the Australia side in place of Brad Hodge after missing the last three games with a calf strain.

New Zealand selected Mark Gillespie in place of fast bowler Shane Bond, who was ruled out of the match with a stomach complaint on Friday morning.

Pace bowler Michael Mason replaced all-rounder Jacob Oram who has a heel injury.

Australia: Adam Gilchrist (wk), Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting (capt), Michael Clarke, Andrew Symonds, Michael Hussey, Shane Watson, Brad Hogg, Nathan Bracken, Shaun Tait and Glenn McGrath. Coach: John Buchanan.
