Mumbai:Punjab will start as favourites when they take on Tamil Nadu in the finals of the All-India Inter-State Twenty20 tournament to be held under lights at the Brabourne stadium here on Saturday.

Punjab are armoured with a strong batting line-up and a decent bowling attack, and gave ample evidence of their batting prowess when they notched tournament's highest score against Orissa in their last league match.

Performance of left-handed Yuvraj Singh, who has sound has touch, in the last game will be once again viewed with great interest as he definitely holds the key to Punjab's fortunes in the summit round.

VRV Singh will spearhead the Punjab bowling attack, which has good variety in the form of left-arm seamer Amit Uniyal, off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, apart from the handy left-arm spin of Dinesh Mongia.

Punjab's only defeat in the league phase came unexpectedly against Gujarat before making the grade after their wins against Railways and Karnataka.

South Zone winners Tamil Nadu qualified for the summit round in an identical fashion in Group B, played in Ahmedabad.

Tamil Nadu (12 points), who defeated Madhya Pradesh in their concluding match, ended with the same number of wins as Mumbai.

B Mahesh, Dinesh Karthik V Sivaramkrishnan hold key for TN in batting while left-arm spinner Ashwin and Jesu Babu in bowling department.

However, Tamil Nadu edged out the Ranji champions for the final berth having defeated them in their opening match of the league.
