Bangla opt to bat against Ind in 46 overs a side

Bangalore:Bangladesh skipper Habibul Bashar won the toss and elected to bat against India in their first of the three-game ODI series at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Mirpur on Thursday.

Rain delayed the scheduled 09.00am local (08.30 IST) start time but with the match due to get underway at 10.20 (09.50 IST) was reduced to 46 overs a side.

Delhi southpaw Gautam Gambhir returned to the Indian side in place of Robin Uthappa. Bangla picked rookie seamer Shahadat Hossain in place of their pace spearhead Mortaza, who is ruled out of the ankle injury.

India: Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid (capt), Yuvraj Singh, Dinesh Mongia, M S Dhoni (wk), D Karthik, Ramesh Powar, Zaheer Khan, Sreesanth and Munaf Patel.

Bangladesh: Javed Omar, Tamim Iqbal, Aftab Ahmed, Mohd Ashraful, Bashar (Capt), Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mohd Rafique, Abdur Razzaq, Shahadat Hossain and Syed Rasel.

Umpires: Ashoka de Silva (SL) and Nadir Shah (Ban).

Match Referee: Roshan Mahanama (SL).
