Abu Dhabi ODIs: Pak take unassailable 2-0 series lead

Bangalore:Pakistan took an unassailable 2-0 lead over World Cup runners-up Sri Lanka in their three-match one-day international series in Abu Dhabi when they won the second game by 98 runs on Sunday.

The Pakistanis, playing for the second time since their disappointing World Cup in the Caribbean, made 313 for nine in their 50 overs then bowled Sri Lanka out for 215 in 39.5 overs.

Opener Salman Butt top-scored for Pakistan with 74 and all-rounder Shahid Afridi was the pick of their bowlers taking three wickets for 37. Skipper Jayawardene top scored for Lanka with a blazing 61.

Pakistan 313 for 9 in 50 overs (Salman Butt 74, Yasir Hamid 50, Mohd Yousuf 37, Kamran Akmal 38, Malik 27; Bandara 3 for 56, Maharoof 65, Fernando 2 for 71) beat Sri Lanka 215 all out in 39.5 overs (Tharanga 48, Mahela Jayawardene 61; Afridi 3 for 37, Mohd Sami 2 for 27, Gul 2 for 38) by 98 runs.
