Los Angeles:The city of dreams gear up for the 5th edition of LA Open Twenty20 cricket tournament which kicks-off from July 13, says LA Open organising committee in a press release.

Teams from Test-playing nations and Associate member nations, studded with ex-internationals and quality first class players, battle it out for the top honours in this premier cricket tournament of the United States.

This annual extravaganza is scheduled to be held at Woodley Park Cricket Fields (WPCF) in Van Nuys, CA.

"Four strips laid here for the event and ground conditions are on par with international standards, says one of the LA Open organiser Kamal Doshi."

"Last year this Twenty20 fixture was a big success with over 20 teams cutting across the world played some high quality cricket and we are pumped up to make this 3-day issue even better one, organisers claim."

This time around teams from New South Wales in Australia, India, T&T besides the teams from States will vye for the top spots. Former internationls like Azharuddin, Richie Richardson, Stuart Williams, Rohan Gavaskar, Nikil Chopra and a horde of first class players from Carib Isles, India, Australia and North America are expected to take part.

In its four-year history, the tournament has featured many record-breaking performances. In past years, the LA Open has seen an average of almost 200 runs scored in each 20-over innings, creating great excitement and entertainment for spectators and attendees.

There is no other place in the U.S. where you get to see some of the worlds leading cricket players, assembled in one location, playing fast-paced cricket for three days, claims Kamal Doshi."

For those not familiar with cricket activities in United States, there are currently over 9,000 cricketers, many of whom have played international and first class cricket for their home countries, now residing and playing in the U S A.
