Asia XI elect to bat in 2nd Afro-Asia Cup tie

Chennai:Asia XI skipper Mahela Jayawardene won the toss and elected to bat first against Africa XI in the second match of the Afro-Asia Cup series here at Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday.

The biggest test for both the teams is combatting hot and humid conditions of June in Chennai.

Asia XI made two changes with Hrabhajan Singh and Mortaza made way for Mohd Rafique and Dilhara Fernando while Africa XI picked Vusi Sibanda and Johan Botha in place of Loots Bosman and Steve Tikolo.

Asia XI won Wednesday's opening game by 34 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Asia XI: Sanath Jayasuriya, Virender Sehwag, Saurav Ganguly, Mahela Jayawardene (capt), Mohammad Yousuf, Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Dhoni (wk), Mohammad Rafique, Zaheer Khan, Mohammad Asif and Dilhara Fernando.

Africa XI: AB de Villiers, Vusi Sibanda, Boeta Dippenaar, Justin Kemp (capt), Mark Boucher (wk), Shaun Pollock, Elton Chigumbura, Morne Morkel, Thomas Odoyo, Morne Morkel, Albie Morkel and Johan Botha.
