Graham Ford named new Team India coach

Chennai:South Africa's Graham Ford was chosen as Team India's new coach here on Saturday.

The 46-year-old former South Africa coach, currently cricket director of English county Kent, was selected by Sunny Gavaskar headed seven-member selection panel, ahead of former England off-spinner and incumbent John Emburey, an Indian board official announced after they were interviewed by its coaching committee.

Ford's appointment would have to be formally ratified by the board's decision-making working committee on Tuesday, he said.

Former South Africa coach, Ford will have to work along with bowling coach B K Venkatesh Prasad and fielding coach Robin Singh. Ford , who is handed a one year contract, will take charge for the one-day series against SA in Eire later this month.
