Sri Lanka elect to field against Bangladesh

Colombo:Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene won the toss and sent Bangladesh in to bat in overcast conditions in the first cricket Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club here.

Opening batsman Malinda Warnapura, nephew of Sri Lanka's first Test captain, Bandula Warnapura, makes his debut in the absence of Sanath Jayasuriya, Upul Tharanga and Marvan Atapattu.

Teams:

Bangladesh: Mohammad Ashraful (capt), Shahriar Nafees, Javed Omer, Rajin Saleh, Habibul Bashar, Shakib Al Hasan, Khaled Mashud, Mashrafe Mortaza, Shahadat Hossain, Mohammed Rafique, Abdur Razzak. 12th man: Mehrab Hossain.
