Windies opt to bat against Eng in series decider

Nottingham:West Indies captain Chris Gayle won the toss and elected to bat in the third and final one-day international against England at Trent Bridge here.

England made two changes from the side that lost Wednesday's second one-day international at Edgbaston by 61 runs, where West Indies levelled the series at 1-1.

Left-arm spinner Monty Panesar came in for Michael Yardy and Liam Plunkett replaced fellow quick Ryan Sidebottom as England reverted to the team that won Sunday's series opener at Lord's by 79 runs.

West Indies were unchanged with batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who scored 116 not out at Edgbaston, passed fit after straining ligaments in his right ankle while batting.


England: Alastair Cook, Matt Prior (wk), Ian Bell, Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood (capt), Owais Shah, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Liam Plunkett, Stuart Broad, Monty Panesar and James Anderson.

West Indies: Chris Gayle (capt), Devon Smith, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Marlon Samuels, Runako Morton, Dwayne Bravo, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Dwayne Smith, Daren Powell, Ravi Rampaul and Fidel Edwards.

Umpires: Brian Jerling (RSA), Mark Benson (Eng) and Third Umpire: Peter Hartley (Eng).

Match referee: Mike Procter (RSA).
