Four new faces in the team are Junaid Siddique, Mohammad Nazimuddin, Nadif Chowdhury and Ziaur Rahman.
Former captains Habibul Bashar and Khaled Mashud were not considered after being dropped for last month's one-day series against Sri Lanka which Bangladesh lost 0-3.
Other Test players to miss out were Tushar Imran, Shahriar Nafees, Shahadat Hossain and Mehrab Hossain.
Bangladesh have been drawn with hosts South Africa and the West Indies in group A of the preliminary league with the top two qualifying for the Super Eights round.
The 12-team tournament features the nine nations currently playing Test cricket along with Zimbabwe, Kenya and Scotland.
