England can replace all-rounder Ravi Bopara with fast bowler James Anderson in their Twenty20 squad, the International Cricket Council said Saturday.

The ICC's technical committee said England can bring in the 25-year-old to replace Bopara, who injured his right thumb, for the tournament which runs from September 11 to 24 in South Africa.

England's first match of the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 in South Africa will take place against Zimbabwe in Cape Town on Thursday 13 September.
