Bangalore: Karnataka eves had their Hyderabad counterparts on the mat when bad light brought a premature end to the South Zone Women"s Seniors Championship (Two Day) game at the R D T Stadium, Anantapur.
Chasing Karnataka's modest 187 for a first innings lead, Hyderabad was in doldrums having lost five wickets for a mere 52 runs off 38 overs when the umpires upheld Hyderabad"s appeal for bad light.
Earlier, resuming at 159 for 5, Karnataka lost the remaining wickets adding just 28 runs. Medium pacers Soujanya and Rajini bowled well in seamer-friendly conditions. Vilasini was the first to go for 59 while Mamatha Maben was trapped LBW for a well made 58.
Karnataka eves' slow-ball bowlers Mamatha and Vanita struck early sending the openers packing with just four runs on the board. Hyderabad never recovered from the early setback and went to the defensive mode. Mamatha struck again this time trapping Shravanti in front while the in-form off spinner Sunitha Vasudevan had Diana David caught smartly by Deepika at short mid-wicket. When Vilasini had Savita Nirala caught behind Hyderabad batswomen sensed danger and appealed successfully for bad light.
The teams earned 2 points each.
Karnatake eves 187 all out (Vilasini 59, Mamatha Maben 58; Shravanthi 2 for 30, Archana Das 2 for 20) drew with Hyderabad 52 for 5.
