India choose to bat in Twenty20 final

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat against Pakistan in the final of the inaugural Twenty20 world championships at the Wanderers.

India made one change from the team that beat Australia in the semi-finals in Durban, bringing in allrounder Yousuf Pathan for injured batsman Virender Sehwag.

Pakistan brought in seamer Yasir Arafat in place of spinner Fawad Alam from the side that defeated New Zeland in Saturday's other semi-final in Cape Town.

India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt), Gautam Gambhir, Robin Uthappa, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Irfan Pathan, Joginder Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Shanthakumaran Sreesanth, Rudra Pratap Singh and Yousuf Pathan.

Pakistan: Shoaib Malik (captain), Imran Nazir, Mohammad Hafeez, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Gul, Mohammad Asif and Yasir Arafat.

Umpires: Simon Taufel (AUS) and Mark Benson (ENG)

Third umpire: Daryl Harper (AUS)

Match referee: Ranjan Madugalle (SRI)
