Johannesburg, Sep 24: India beat Pakistan by five runs to win the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup finals today. Recalled all-rounder Irfan Pathan and new-ball bowler Rudra Pratap Singh took three wickets each and Pakistan, who started well, tumbled to 152 all out in the final over.

A fine all-round bowling performance by Pakistan, led by Umar Gul, with three for 28, had earlier restricted India, who won the toss, to 157 for five.

India opening batsman Gautam Gambhir scored 75 off 54 balls and Rohit Sharma hit 30 not out in 16 balls in the closing overs to take them past 150.
