Margao: Tailender Aditya Angle's unbeaten knock of 54, studded with six hits to the boundary, and 57-run partnership with Ryan D'Souza (21) for the eighth wicket, enabled Goa to pile up 258 for 8 against Haryana on the opening day of the four-day Ranji plate B cricket match held at MCC ground today.

Goa was well supported by captain Jagdish Arunkumar with his valuable contribution of 55 runs, Sagun Kamat (40) and Sadab Jakati (25) to amass the total in 90 overs.

The hosts made a good start with opening pair Sagun Kamat and Rohit Asnodkar, both yielding a 55-run partnership for the first wicket, before Asnodkar was caught on the score of 20 by S Rana on Sanjay Bhudawar's delivery.

Later, Goa failed to negotiate the attack from Haryana and wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Top half of the batting line up collapsed early bringing the total to 159 for seven. Aniket Desai (0), Manoj Joglekar (4), Ajay Ratra (15) and Robin D souza (10) fell cheaply.

Tail-enders Aditya Angle and Ryan D'Souza steadied the innings there on, Angle, who played some aggressive cricket, remained not out with a score of 54 in 111 balls.

Captain J Arunkumar's knock of 55 included 8 hits to the boundary and two sixes in 114 balls, opener Sugun Kamat's 40 came in 83 balls.

Leg spinner Amit Mishra (3 for 52), Medium pacer Joginer Sharma (2 for 59) and Sanjay Bhudwar (2 for 38) were the most successful bowlers for Haryana.
