Saurashtra makes decent start against HP

Dharamsala: Saurashtra scored a modest total of 262 for the loss of six wickets against Himachal Pradesh at the HPCA stadium on the opening day of the four-day Group A Ranji Trophy Super League match here today.

A third wicket partnership of 86 runs between C Pujara(64) and K Vaghela(40) helped the visitors reach 262 after the openers SD Jogiyani(32) in company of Vaghela provided a decent start to the visitors.

A Thakur was the pick of the bowlers claiming three vital wickets. He was ably supported by Sarandeep Singh and V S Malik who took two wickets and one wicket respectively.

Saurashtra after electing to bat first lost wickets at regular intervals with most of the batsmen getting starts but failied to capitalise on them.

Pujara who was in ominous form belted the oppossition for ten well executed hits to the fence before he was removed by Thakur.

Spinner Sarandeep Singh bowled a tight spell for the hosts and claimed the last two wickets of the day.

F Bambhaniya and R Dhruv were the two notout batsmen for the visitors at stumps.
