Bangalore: Mohammad Yousuf crafted a fine unbeaten 83 to guide Pakistan to a healthy 239/7 in the first one-dayer against India at the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati on Monday
Yousuf was associated in two useful partnerships. Firstly he added 59 runs with Afridi (31 off 32) for the fourth wicket stand and then he was involved in 58-run sixth wicket stand with Misbah (27 off 26).
Yousuf, who had a sluggish start, uped the ante in the death overs. His 88-ball knock studded with seven boundary hits.
Earlier In-from opener Salman Butt's blazing 50 steadied Pak after a left-arm seamer Pathan packed off Akmal early.
India spinners Kartik and Harbhajan bowled to a nagging line and length to strangle Pak batsmen in the middle overs. Kartik though went wicketless, spun a web around Pakis. He conceded measly 36 runs in his 10 overs.
Tendulkar with his part-time leg-spinners plucked two vital wickets of Afridi and Malik in quick succession to send the visitors on backfoot in the middle overs.
Pakistan 239 for 7 in 50 overs ( Yousuf 83 n o, Butt 50, Afridi 31, Misbah 27, Younis 25; Tendulkar 2 for 33, Harbhajan 1 for 29, Pathan 1 for 45) Vs India
