Chennai: Brilliant Mumbai put hosts Tamil Nadu on mat by bowling them out for a meagre 206 in 77 overs in their first innings and were 20 without loss at stumps on the first day of the Ranji Trophy Super League Group-A match here at the M A Chidambaram Stadium on Thursday.

Mumbai openers Shakeel Kukreja (17,3X4s) and  seasoned campaigner Wasim Jaffar (3) were at the wicket as the visitors batted out the 11 overs before stumps after Tamil Nadu were bundled out in 77 overs.

After Vijay's departure, Dinesh kept one end up and added 57 runs for the fifth wicket with newcomer R Srinivasan playing only his second Ranji match, off 19.5 overs.

Dinesh slammed 12 boundaries and a six 108-ball knock before Ramesh Powar trapped him leg before wicket.

Tamil Nadu put themselves in a piquant situation losing three wickets in the space of 18 runs. And as the innings folded up meakly, Srinivasan remained unbeaten on 66 off 166 balls and 226 minutes. He hit eight fours.

Medium pacers Ajit Agarkar(1-36) and Abhishek Nair(1-27), and left arm spinner Iqbal Abdulla (1-27) were the other successful bowlers for Mumbai.
