Jaipur: One of the best left handed batsmen of the country Yuvraj Singh should have been selected for the Team India Test squad against Pakistan to be kicked off from tomorrow in Delhi, said former Indian captain Kapil Dev in a press conference here today.

Kapil who is in the town told newsmen that when player like Yuvraj are not there in the team, it means there are better players than him in the side and more responsibilities have come on their shoulders. It is my personal opinion that the five selectors have their own mind for the national team, he said and added that it is definitely a matter of disappointment for him.

About the chances of Team India in Test series, he said that we have a young team and a new captain. The players are confident and full of enthusiasm but they have to apply themselves to their best. Pakistan appears to be confident after having won the last one dayer in Jaipur. If you crush a side to the maximum extent, then they can not stand. But Pakistan's morale was now boosted.

Replying to a question he said that Team India have good alrounders now and they have done well in last 15 matches. Citing the example of MS Dhoni he said that he is also an alrounder.

Refering to a question about appointing a new coach for the team, he put up a counter question asking weather Venkatesh Prasad and Robin Singh are not the coaches. Players like Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Harbhajan Singh don't require any coach now. Team India needs a person who can manage the team.

Regarding the ban imposed by BCCI on selection committee chairman Dilip Vengsarkar for writing columns, he said that every institution though have their own norms and one has to follow that.

But he personally was of the opinion that there was nothing wrong if Vengsarkar writes because people want to know many things about team India and he is the best person to apprise them of the facts.

Rumours are always damanging and if things are transparent, there is nothing wrong.

About Twenty20 Cricket, Kapil Dev said that the general public have liked this version of cricket so there is notihing wrong as it happend with the introduction of one-day cricket.

On an another question, he said that other disiciplines should also be encouraged. Though he will not initiate for that but was ready to help those who come forward for this cause.
