Andhra ease to big win over Orissa

Cuttuck: Andhra Pradesh beat host Orissa by 102 runs on the fourth day of the Ranji Trophy Super League Group-B tie at the Barabati stadium here on Monday.

Resuming their overnight score of 32 for no loss, the host Orissa failed to chase the target of 327 runs and were bundled out for 224.

For Orissa Niranjan Behera scored 66 with eight hits to the boundary, the highest followed by Debasis Mohanty 46 with seven fours and a six.

But for Behera the other batsmen failed to apply themselves and left in quick succession. Overnight batsmen B S Pati and S S Das failed to withstand the visitors onslaught and went back to the pavilion after adding only six runs to their overnight score.

Seasoned campaigners Pravanjan Mullick (7) and Subit Biswal (6) got out to reckless shots while Haladhar Das was run-out on 2 and Sukanta Khuntia was castled for 5.

Andhra Pradesh had declared their second innings at 287 for nine settinga stiff 327-run target to hosts Orissa in the final session on the penultimate day.

For Andhra Pradesh D Kalyan Krishna and G Shankar Rao claimed three wickets each while M Suresh and Watekar took one wicket apiece.

At Uppal, Hyderabad: Hyderabad 261 and 272/4 (Arjun Yadav 101*, A Shinde 57, Ravi Teja 54; Irfan Pathan 2 for 67, Yusuf Pathan 2 for 80) drew with Baroda 476/9 decl (Connor Williams 153, R Solanki 78, Bhilakia 68, Pinal Shah 68; Lalith Mohan 4 for 132, Pragyan Ojha 3 for 139).
