London: Former England batsman Ali Brown has signed a new one-year contract with Surrey.

The 37-year-old has scored more than 25,000 runs for Surrey and last summer hit 176 in a world record one-day score of 496-4 against Gloucestershire.

He only featured in nine of the 16 English County Championship games of The Oval based London side, however, and has set his sights on regaining a regular place in all forms of the game.

"This will make for stiff competition and keep all contenders on their toes," said manager Alan Butcher.
