Mysore: Six-time champions Karnataka hold a clear edge over Rajasthan in the four-day Ranji Trophy Super League Group-A tie beginning here morrow.
Karnataka, with eight points from three games, are placed fifth in the tournament, while Rajasthan has drawn blank from the three matches it had played as it had lost all of them.
Karnataka won by an innings against Himachal Pradesh, drew with to Mumbai and Tamil Nadu although conceding first innings lead in both the occassion. Rajasthan are in the bottom of the table losing their matches against Delhi, Maharashtra and Saurashtra.
Despite the absence of Team India Captain Anil Kumble and prolific batsman Rahul Dravid, Karnataka has enough ammunition to put it across Rajasthan at the Gangotri Glades Grounds which is expected to take turn from day three.
The home team would be bolstered by the presence of Robin Uthappa, while veteran left arm spinner Sunil Joshi remains in the limelight with consistent performances.
Coach Vijay Bhardwaj said his team would try to force an outright win in its bid to make it to the knockout phase.
On the other hand, upcoming Rajasthan has to strive hard to keep the Karnataka team at bay. Coach Anil Parmar, however, expressed confidence of a better show.
The two teams had practice sessions at the grounds during the last two days.
