Panchkula: An unbeaten 28-ball 42 by skipper Inzamam ul Haq helped Hyderabad Hereos rout Lara-led Mumbai Champs by 33 runs in the third match of the Indian Cricket League Twenty20 event at Tau Devi Lal Stadium here on Saturday.

If Inzamam enthralled the spectators, Brian Lara disappointed with his dismissal in the first ball he faced. An Azhar Mahmood delivery moved in from outside the off stump and the West Indian great batsman just padded away. There was a loud appeal and the umpire raised his finger. Lara's wicket fell 18 for 3.

Barring Nathan Astle, no other Champs batsmen could counter the charged up Heores' seamers. The gritty New Zealander Astle batted sensibly for his 31 off 27 balls studded with one six and two four. Robin Morris (12), Subhojit Paul (14) and Ranjeet Kirid (19) were the other batsmen to reach double figures for Mumbai Champs.

Earlier, Heroes riding on Inzyamam's strokeful 42 posted a decent 121/6. Burly Pak batsman struck two sixes and three fours in his 28-ball knock.

Inzy effortlessly lofted Mervyn Dhillon of West Indies over square in third delivery of the 13th over. He was again in a punishing mood as he lifted Avinash Yadav (3 for 22) out of the ground with a straight six.

Opener Anirudh Singh chipped in with useful 21 while Boje, Harris and Rayadu made 13 each.

Heroes gloveman Subhojit Paul had a field day. He took one catch and fashioned three stumpings. An alert Paul caught Anirudh off the bowling of Rakesh Patel (1 for 23). Later, he stumped Nicky Boje, Rayudu and Abdul Razzaq.

Avinash Yadav was the pick among the Mumbai bowlers claiming three wickets for 22 runs. van der Wath, Rakesh Patel and Khirid took a wicket each.

Brief Scores:

Hyderabad Heroes 121 for 6 in 20 overs (Inzamam 42*, Anirudh Singh 21, Rayadu 14; Avinash Yadav 3 for 22) beat Mumbai Champs 88 all out in 19 overs (Nathan Astle 31, S Paul 14; Azhar Mahmood 2 for 13, Harris 2 for 11, Boje 1 for 6, Razzaq 1 for 13) by 33 runs.
