Bangalore: India, resuming their first innings at 365 for five, posted a mammoth 626 all out just minutes after tea on the second day of the third and final Test against Pakistan on Sunday.

Overnight batsman Sourav Ganguly made a fluent 239 - his personal best - before going for a sweep off a loopy delivery off Kaneria played onto his stumps. Ganguly and Pathan, who scored a strokeful 102, shared a brisk 178-runs for seventh wicket partnership.

Yesterday Yuvraj hit a scintillating 169 and was associated in a 300-run stand with Ganguly to resurrect the tottering Indian innings after debutant Pak seamer Arafat ripped apart top-order.

Arafat, who took three early wickets to reduce the hosts to 61-4 on the opening day, had Karthik (24) caught behind, but the ineffective attack was put to the sword thereafter.

Ganguly after stonewalling for the first hour or so opened up with a series of breathtaking shots as he pulled and drove Arafat for boundaries and hit leg spinner Danish Kaneria for two massive sixes-one over mid-wicket and the second over long-on.

He reached his double hundred with a brace off Arafat through covers and raised his arms in celebration.

He hit 30 fours and two sixes in his 361-ball knock.

Skipper Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh fell cheaply with Pathan stranded in 90s, but last-man Ishant Sharma stood firm as Pathan reached his century with a six off Kaneria before edging the leg spinner behind.

Left-handed Pathan batted fluently for his debut Test hundred and struck part-time spinner Salman Butt and Kaneria for two sixes apiece. His 133-ball knock was studded with 10 hits to fence and four over it.

Pak seamer Arafat, who bowled exceptionally well in the morninig session on day one, failed to produce that magic today. He went for many with Ganguly and Pathan targetting him. However he returned with five-wicket haul (5/161) in his debut Test. Express bowler Shoaib Akhtar did not bowl as he was to spend as much time on the field as he had stayed off it on Saturday due to cramps.

Brief Scores (at tea, D-2):

India Ist innings 626 all out (Ganguly 239, Yuvraj 169, Pathan 102; Arafat 5 for 161, Kaneria 3 for 168, Sami 2 for 149) Vs Pakistan
