Panchkula: An undefeated 79-run partnership for the fourth wicket between captain Inzamam (44 off 27 balls, 4x4s&2x6s) and Abdul Razzaq (40 off 20, 2x4s&3x6s) helped Hyderabad Heroes check the winning streak of Chennai Superstars, handing them a seven-wicket drubbing in the Indian Cricket League (ICL) Twenty20 C'ship at the Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex here on Sunday.
Chasing 163 runs for victory, Hyderabad Heroes achieved the target in 17.5 overs. Former Pak skipper Inzy was duly adjudged Man-of-the- Match for his match winning effort.
Opener Ivan Harvey (63*), Stuart Law (44) and Hemang Badani (31*) powered Superstars to a healthy 162/4. Harvey was associated in two good partnerships. First with Law, realising 85 runs for the third wicket. Law struck six boundaries in his 31-ball knock before being castled by Kaushik Reddy.
Later Harvey and Hemang Badani flayed the Heroes' bowlers as they put on an unbeaten 52 for the fourth wicket. Harvey stroked six boundaries and two sixes.
Badani's hurricane undefeated knock of 31 came of just 13 balls studded with three sixes and a boundary.
Chasing the victory target, Hyderabad Heroes had a decent start with all the top three batsmen making their wickets count with Shashank Nag (13), Anirudh Singh (31) and Ambati Rayadu (28) scoring briskly.
The fourth unbroken wicket partnership of 79 runs between Inzamam ul Haq and Abdul Razzaq engineered Heroes home in the 18th over with later smashing 18 runs in the ante-penultimate over including two massive sixes.
Chennai Superstars 162/4 in 20 overs ( Ian Harvey 63*, Stuart Law 44, Badani 31*; Mahmood 1 for 23, PK Reddy 1 for 27) lost to Hyderabad Heroes 165/3 in 17.5 overs (Inzy 44*, Razzaq 40*, Anirudh Singh 31, Ambati Rayudu 22; Shabbir 1 for 27, Saravanan 1 for 29) by seven wickets.
