Lahore: Ace Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf has filed a suit against Indian Cricket League (ICL) management, Essel Sports (Pvt) Limited, claiming damages worth Rs 215 million.

His counsel, Taffazul H Rizvi appeared before Lahore's Civil Court and filed a suit against Essel Sports, former cricketer and agent of ICL, Moin Khan and Dr B P Saraf, the Arbitrator in Mumbai, as reported by The Post.

After hearing his arguments, Judge Hasnain Raza issued notices to the respondents.

Rizvi pleaded that Yousuf reached an agreement with Essel Sports (Pvt) Limited, the organiser of ICL, but later on discovering that playing for the league was not in the interest of the country, he returned the money received from the group.

However, Essel Sports without disclosing this fact had initiated arbitration proceedings against Yousuf in India and different news items were appearing wherein it was being shown that Yousuf had refused to take part in the ICL even after receiving payment and no mention was being made that Yousuf was absolved of all liabilities after returning money received by him from Essel Sports.

Interestingly, Yousuf is in India playing the three-match Test series against arch-rival India, while the ICL has filed a suit against him in India.
