Wellington: Bangladesh fast bowler Syed Rasel has been ruled out of the New Zealand tour after injuring his collar bone in a warm-up match, officials said Tuesday.

Rasel was injured in a match in the North Island city of Hamilton and will be replaced by a newcomer to the national team, Sajidul Islam.

Bangladesh coach Jamie Siddons told commercial radio that Rasel would be seen by several specialists in New Zealand before deciding whether he would have surgery locally or return home for treatment.

Following two more warm-up matches, Bangladesh is due to play a Twenty20 match against New Zealand on Sunday.

The first of three one-day internationals will be played on December 26, and will be followed by two Tests.
