Australia defeated New Zealand by 114 runs in the third Chappell Hadlee Trophy one-dayer to claim the cricket series 2-0 at Bellerive Oval here.
The Australians crushed the Kiwis dismissing them for 168 off 34 overs after man-of-the-match Ricky Ponting led them to 282 for six off their 50 overs with an unbeaten 134 off 133 balls.
The victory enabled Australia to regain the Chappell Hadlee Trophy after losing the last series 3-0 in New Zealand last February.
It was Australia's 17th victory in their last completed 19 one-day internationals.
The second match of the series was washed out after just six overs in Sydney last last Sunday.
