Bangalore: Team India management decided to stick with Rahul Dravid to open innings at SCG despite the later's dismal show in Boxing Day Test and Virender Sehwag, who was in contention, has been left to cool his heels.

Dravid, who made a turtle-esque 21 runs in 180 balls in the first Test, is all set to open the innings with Jaffer after Sehwag was once again overlooked despite skipper Anil Kumble's talks about Delhi swashbuckler making Test return.

Meanwhile, India's pace spearhead Zaheer, who is nursing a heal injury, is giving tourists' management some anxious moments ahead of the start of their crucial tie. Pathan is likely to make the playing XI if Zaheer fails to recover.

Zaheer's niggling landing-heel problem cropped up during practice. He went to a local Sydney hospital for an MRI scan and the team management was awaiting results before taking a final decision. He missed the third and final Test against Pakistan recently with the same injury.

Australia, who lead the four-Test series 1-0, have retained their playing XI.

Squad: Wasim Jaffer, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wk), Anil Kumble (capt), Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, RP Singh and Irfan Pathan.
