Melbourne: Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh is free to play until his appeal against a three-Test ban is heard, ICC chief executive Malcom Speed told today.

ICC match referee Mike Procter had imposed a three-Test ban on Harbhajan after he found guilty of alleged racial abuse against Australlian all-rounder Andrew Symonds during India's 122-run loss against Australia last week.

Harbhajan and Team India officials denied abusing Symonds and BCCI has lodged an appeal against this verdict.

ICC chief executive said the date for Harbhajan's appeal hearing is yet to fix but off-spinner would be allowed to continue playing in the meantime, in accordance with ICC regulations.

"The ICC has a robust process of dealing with Code of Conduct issues and that process will now run its natural course," Speed said.
