Bangalore: Rogers' helped ACT XI recover after India pacer Ishant Sharma ripped thro' the hosts top-order in a tour game at Manuka Oval in Canberra on Friday.
ACT XI were 187/5 at tea on the second of the three-day tie in reply to visitors' first innings total of 325/9 decl.
Resuming at the overnight score of 10/0, openers CJ Rogers (60) and E J Crown (14) added 31 runs before the later was castled by Ishant with a full-length delivery. Three balls later Ishant rapped Dean infront to reduce the hosts to 45/2.
The next man in skipper Higgs came and went in whimper when he top-edged the pull to give the simplest of catch to gloveman Karthik.
CJ Rogers held his ground firm at one end despite wickets tumbling at other. He struck five boundaries in his 92-ball knock before being adjudged LBW to Harbhajan.
JW Rogers taking cue from his namesake continued to defy Indians with a stubborn 110-ball 50* that included six boundary hits.
He added 74 runs for the fifth wicket stand with R Starr (27). RP who was brought bit late into attack trapped Starr with a peach of a ball that pitched on off-stump line and swang late to rap the pad on back foot for a plum decision.
