Tree sheltering 600 beehives attracts visitors

Karnataka, Jan 20, 2008 : A banyan tree in Ramagovindapura in Karnataka is attracting visitors for making a record of sheltering more than 600 beehives.

Every year between October and November, around 600 beehives are found on the banyan tree and the number starts decreasing once the bees start vacating the tree in March. According to the head of the village, the agricultural production of the village has increased considerably because of these bee colonies and they get five crops a year.
