Karachi: Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik reacted with surprise when he saw fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar appear at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore on Friday.
Malik abruptly left a press conference in Lahore after being bombarded with questions about the discarded fast bowler"s presence at the nets session.
According to the Dawn, it was apparent that Malik had no idea who invited Akhtar to attend the training session ahead of the final one-dayer against Zimbabwe in Sheikhupura on Saturday.
Shoaib claimed that he was asked to attend the training session by Pakistan coach Geoff Lawson.
“It"s good too see him (Shoaib) in action and we hope that all our fast bowlers, including Mohammad Asif and Umar Gul will get fully fit before the important series against Australia," Malik said.
