Sydney: Australia captain Ricky Ponting has won the toss and decided to bat in third match of the CB series at Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday.

Sri Lanka retained the same side that played in Tuesday's washed out match against India in Brisbane while Australia made two changes to the side that also played an abandoned game against the Indians at the Gabba.

For Australia Matthew Hayden returns to the squad for Brad Haddin while spinner Brad Hogg replaces Ashley Noffke.

The met office has predicted partly cloudy conditions with chances of rain during the day. If rain again plays spoilsport, it will come as a huge disappointment for the fans.

After two washed out games, India find themselves on top of the points table with four points from two matches while Australia and Sri Lanka have two points each from one match.

Teams:

Australia: Ricky Ponting (captain), Adam Gilchrist, Matthew Hayden, Michael Clarke, Mike Hussey, Andrew Symonds, James Hopes, Brad Hogg, Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Bracken.

Sri Lanka: Mahela Jayawardene (captain), Upul Tharanga, Sanath Jayasuriya, Kumar Sangakkara, Chamara Silva, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Chamara Kapugedera, Chaminda Vaas, Lasith Malinga, Muttiah Muralitharan, Ishara Amerasinghe.
