Lanka opt to bat against India in Adelaide

Adelaide: Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene won the toss and elected to bat in their must-win Commonwealth Bank tri-series tie against India at Adelaide Oval on Tuesday.

India has dropped paceman Shanthakumaran Sreesanth and brought in all-rounder Praveen Kumar from the team that lost to Australia by 50 runs last Sunday.

Sri Lanka has also made one change to the side that suffered a 63-run defeat to Australia last Friday, with Nuwan Kulasekara making way for paceman Ishara Amerasinghe.

Australia, who has amassed 17 points with three wins, have assured final berth. India (8 pts) and Lanka (6) were left with a two-horse race.

Squads:

India: MS Dhoni (capt), Guatam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Virender Sehwag, Ishant Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, Robin Uthappa, Yuvraj Singh and Praveen Kumar.

Sri Lanka: Mahela Jayawardene (capt), Sanath Jayasuriya, Chamara Silva, Chamara Kapugedera, Farveez Maharoof, Kumar Sangakkara, Chaminda Vaas, Lasith Malinga, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Muttiah Muralidaran and Ishara Amerasinghe.
