Dubai: Sri Lanka has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during its 13-run win over Australia in the last preliminary round tie of the CB tri-series at MCG on Friday.

International Cricket Council (ICC) match referee Jeff Crowe ruled that Lanka was found one over short of its target when time allowances were taken into account.

Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene was docked 10 percent of his match fee, while each of his players were fined five per cent, in accordance with ICC regulations.

The sport's governing body has vowed to crackdown on slow over rates and have already fined Australia twice this summer.

Lanka had already been knocked out of contention for the best-of-three finals, which begins on Sunday between India and Australia.
