Chandigarh: 'Kings XI Punjab' - Team Mohali of the Indian Premier League was officially launched at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali last night.
On this occasion, actress and co-promoter of the team, Preity Zinta presented the First Golden Ticket to winners of the BIG FM contest that was exclusively promoted over the last few days.
The venue of launch was shifted from Sector 17 to PCA Stadium as the Chandigarh Administration did not give permission due to security reasons.
A blend of youth and experience, 'Kings XI Punjab' is the youngest team with a core group of all-rounders. With eight proven international and eighteen domestic players, the team boasts of experience, leadership and talent.
The logo of the team was unveiled amidst media, Government dignitaries and the people with grandeur. The shield in the logo is the mark of a brave winner, while its peak has KJHPH inscribed on it which stands for Kashmir, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana depicting North India.
The official website of the team - www.kingsXIpunjab.com - was also launched yesterday.
Positioning itself as a people-driven and community-led team, Team Mohali will create and promote community centric activites like the Golden Ticket initiative, Scholarships, Cricket Clinics, Academies, which will be announced shortly. The promoters believe in nurturing talent at the grassroots level and are committed to developing the game of cricket especially in the Punjab region.
In another effort to reach out to the community, ticket prices for all Mohali matches would be as starting as low as Rs 50, making it feasible for everyone in Punjab to watch their team in action.
Tickets will be widely available from April 4 onwards on www.ticketpro.in and book tickets online and can be bought at Cafe Coffee Day and Future Group outlets beginning April 7.

Kings XI Punjab believes that the means are as important as the end.
While winning is what our team would be playing for, playing in the correct spirit and fairness is also very important for us.'' On April 19, Kings XI Punjab will lock horns with the Chennai Team, in Mohali. Subsequently, Team Mohali will play six more home games and seven away games in the league stage. The semi-final and finals will be played in Mumbai.
Kings XI Punjab is part of the eight competing teams promoted by the Indian Premier League. It is held and promoted by a consortium which includes leading actor -Preity Zinta and industrialists Ness Wadia, Karan Paul and Mohit Burman. The team will be led by Yuvraj Singh, who is also the icon player and captain.
