Heroes batting first posted a healthy 147/6 in stipulated 20 overs, thanks to Nicky Boje's 38-ball 47 inclusive of six boundaries and a six. Rayudu and Binny (Jr) were the other major contributors with 25 and 24 respectively. In reply Superstars struggled against the veteran trio - Razzaq, Kemp and Chris Harris - eventully falling five runs short of victory mark despite Hemang Badani's (50 off 37) brave effort.
Heroes got off to a bad start losing both the openers Jimmy Maher and Abdul Razzaq cheaply. Maher was castled by Vignesh and Razzaq was run out as Hyderabad unit was reduced to 23/2 in fifth over.
However, Rayudu's valiant effort helped the Heroes to break the shackles and accelerate a bit. Boje, who had a quiet series so far with the willow, played a fine innings that was eventually turned to be a match winning one for his side.
At the end of the 15th over, the Heroes were placed at 107/4. Stuart Binny's run-a-ball 24 and Anirudh Singh's 2-ball 10 (1X4, 1X6) helped Heroes post a solid 147.
The Superstars' reply began on a poor note losing Vignesh in the very first over of their innings.
Kemp castled Harvey in the 2nd over to put the defending champions in deep trouble at 4/2. The next man in Arnold hit Razzaq and Boje for a couple of boundaries but the Pakistani all-rounder had a last laugh when he had the Lankan southpaw caught Kemp at mid-wicket to leave Stars on the back foot at 23/3.
Badani (50) and Satish Rajgopal (25) revived Stars' hopes with a brisk 47-run stand for the sixth wicket. The duo took Chennai side past 100 in the 15th over. However the old fox Harris foxed Badani with his unusual arm action. Badani was holed to Inder Shekar Reddy at long-off fence.
With four overs to go the match was set to go down to the wire with Superstars needing 43 runs off 24 balls at 10.8 runs per over.
Kemp bowled the all important last over with the equation for Stars' read 12 runs in 6 balls with 3 wickets in hand. Stars lost Tamil Kumaran run out in the very first ball. Kemp then disturbed the woodwork of Adam Parore in the second ball. The last pair of Stars managed to score seven runs in next two balls before Shabbir Ahmed was run out in the penaltimate ball to hand the Heroes a narrow four-run win.
Hyderabad Heroes take on the winners of the second semi-final between Lahore Badshahs and Kolkata Tigers in a three-match finals starting on Apr 4 at Panchkula.
Nicky Boje earned Man-of-the-Match award for his strokeful 47.
