New Delhi: Cricket is not a Olympic sport but their is no stopping for Sachin Tendulkar a legend in the colonial sport to be part of the torch relay during India leg.

Batting Maestro will be among 35 Indian athletes who will carry the Olympic torch during the relay here on April 17, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) said.

Former 400 metres runner Milkha Singh, who missed a bronze by whisker in Rome Oly 1960, former All-England badminton champion Pullela Gopichand and long jumper Anju Bobby George are among those who have confirmed their participation, it said.

The route is expected to be shortened from that originally planned due to security concerns following protests against China's response to unrest in Tibet. East Bengal and India striker Bhaichung Bhutia has refused to carry the flame in protest.
