Liquor baron Vijay Mallya owned-Bangalore Royal Challengers IPL side the second most expensive franchise worth $111.6m-second. BRC IPL campaign never took off from the word go, for all its promise in Steyn, Misbah, Kallis, Dravid, Kumble, White and Boucher.

McCullum's blazing knock in the opener made B'lore struggle to work on the perfect combination. The Dravid-led side never had a balance playing XI despite the fact that they had a very good pool of lusty-hitters, crafters, pacers, spinners and a hoard of athletic youngsters to gaurd the field. Also Dravid relied more on the seasoned but ageing cricketers like Kallis, Jaffer et al who failed miserably.

They also had their share of contraversies off the field which distracted Dravid and his men on field. Charu Sharma, CEO, who played a key role in the picking the players during auction and after, was dumped unceremoniously. Dravid's decision was questioned on team composition, not promoting Misbah up the order and for sticking with the Test specialists.

Positives: Dale Steyn bowled his heart out and sadly their was no one to support him. Zaheer though took 12 wickets but was very inconsistent and along with Praveen conceded too many runs in the death overs. Kumble struggled to find his magical touch till the last three games. The legendary leggie found his touch in the final stages and it was too late for BRC.

.Young wicketkeeper-batsman Sreevats Goswami made most of the opportunities that came his way. His outing against Hyderabad outfit was memorable one. He crafted a fine half-century and had his hand in three dismissals - two catches and a sharp stumping.Skipper Dravid was the pick of BRC batsmen with three half-centuries and few thirties. But his solo efforts proved insufficient to BRC's cause as his mates Kohli, Boucher, Misbah failed to live up to their reputation. They were inconsistent at best.

BRC need to re-group and play percentage cricket to make their presence feel amidst the formidable sides-Jaipur, Mohali, Chennai et al.

BRC have to work out a balanced composition and give 'em a fair and long run. With due regards to the quality cricketers like Seasoned but ageing cricketers like Kallis, Jaffer et al are simply not good for the abbreviated form of cricket with their mellowed reflexes and hand-eye co-ordination.

Expect some big names like Freddie, KP and Gayle in BRC squad next season.
