Speaking after the inaugural match of the IPL which was given a colourful start at M Chinnaswamy stadium here, he said the New Zealander"s innings was 'something out of the world".
He said the pitch offered some assistance for the bowlers and barring McCullum the other batsmen had actually struggled against the local bowling. ''You can"t see such an innings often. This league has just started and we have a long way to go. We will bounce back,'' he said.
Visibly jubilant Saurav Ganguly, skipper of the Kolkata team said his teammates played some outstanding cricket and it was a good professional approach. ''The wicket did assist the bowlers to some extent but McCullum nullified it with his approach,'' he said.
''We are excited with the start and this tournament looks good. We should thank Lalit Modi (the IPL Chief) for this. We are looking forward for our next match which we will be playing in front of one lakh spectators in Kolkata,'' he said.
In their next matches, Bangalore plays Rajasthan in the city on April 26, while Kolkata faces Deccan Chargers on April 20.
