Exhausted from the battle against Bangalore Royal Challengers, which they won by a narrow ten run margin last night, Daredevils captain Sehwag could not turn up the pre match press conference. But their bowling coach T A Sekhar the former India pacer and one of the key batsmen A B DeVilliers said although the Super Kings are an avowedly strong outfit, the Devils were quite a match for them.
''We will give tham a fight'', DeVilliers said when pointed out that while the Super Kings have won all their games so far the Daredevils had suffered one defeat in the league.
''They don't have Mathew Hayden and Mike Hussey, but still they are a strong batting line up. We will be missing spinner Daniel Vettori but we have the best pace attack and the best young fielding side'', DeVilliers and Sekhar asserted.
Super Kings Coach Keppler Wessels also acknowledged that the home team has a battle on hand on to morrow.''They have very good opening batsmen and opening bowlers. We are working on that aspect'', Wessels said.
Wessels said even though Mathew Hayden, who has been winning matches single handed for the Kings and his fellow Aussie Hussey had to go back, the team had put on new plans. ''We knew this was going to happen. But we have other equally good players'', the former South African and Australian batsman said.
The Daredevils admitted that they would be depending strongly on veteran Glen McGrath again. He has been the most successful bowler so far in IPL in terms of wickets. ''We have young bowlers in the side and McGrath is still very good. His commitment has been excellent despite the fact that he has retired from international crcket and local lad Yo Mahesh is coming good'', Sekhar pointed out.
Brushing aside Daredevils' only defeat, Sekhar and DeVilliers said ''what we have done in the last four matches would stand us in good stead tomorrow.'' ''Even in the match we lost, we fought very well till the end. Our batting is clicking and the bowling is also equally good'', Sekhar also asserted.
Sekhar said Daredevils had picked their side with a plan.
''Pakistan's Md Asif, the most dangerous bowlers in international arena always wanted to bowl alongside Glen McGranth. Glen too has been working hard on Yo Mahesh and this has resulted in we having the best fast bowling attack in IPL'', he averred.
Super Kings coach Wessels also pointed out that one of the key new ball bowlers Manpreet Singh Ghoni was recovering well from fever and that one of the young talents in the team from Tamil Nadu could get a chance in the XI.
Asked if former India pacer L Balaji also of Tamil Nadu , on a comebatck trail after injury, would be included, Wessels said ''We are working hard on him, When he is ready, he will come in'', Wessels added.
Abie Morkel, who joined the Super Kings squad along with his compatriot fast bowler in place of Hussey and Hayden said his role will be to fill in for Kiwi Jacob Oram, who had also gone back.
