Charu SharmaBangalore: Bangalore Royal Challengers has removed Charu Sharma as the CEO of Vijay Mallya-owned team as the side's poor run in the Indian Premier League continued. Secretary of the Karnataka State Cricket Association and a former India batsman Brijesh Patel will be the new chief of Rahul Dravid's team.

The decision came a day after Kings XI Punjab beat the Bangalore team on their home ground convincingly, their fifth defeat in the competition.

"Royal Challengers Sports has announced that Brijesh Patel has taken over as CEO of the company as Charu Sharma steps down due to personal reasons," the statement, issued on Tuesday night, said. "Royal Challengers team acknowledges his contribution and wishes him luck in his future endeavours."

There are speculations that team coach Venkatesh Prasad will be the next to go as the team owner Mallya started to take some tough decisions.
