Bomb threat near IPL final venue

Mumbai: A crude bomb was found at Vishnudas Bhave Auditorium in Vashi area of Navi Mumbai last night. The auditorium is just 10 km away from the Nerul's DY Patil stadium, the venue of the IPL final between Rajastan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.

The crude bomb was recovered at around 1900 hrs (IST) last night while a show was on at the auditorium. The bomb is said to have made of amonium nitrate and kerosene. The theatre was evacuated at around 2100 hrs (IST) and a bomb detection squad defused the bomb.

“When we got the news of the bomb, we got alert and came with the force to defuse the bomb. Initially it was a difficult task but then we succeeded in the same," said DCP R D Shinde. Security is tightened in and around stadium.

However, the IPL final match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royal will be played as scheduled, said IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi.
