BCCI took the decision after PR Man Singh, the manager of India's 1983 World Cup winning squad, took the governing body to task for failing to organise a function to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the achievement and called its reluctance to felicitate players who have joined the Indian Cricket League (ICL) a 'clash of egos'.
BCCI president Sharad Pawar said the world cup winning captain Kapil Dev, who now has associated himself with Indian Cricket League (ICL) will be invited for it.
''The felicitation function for the members of the 1983 World Cup winning team will be held at Taj Palace in New Delhi on June 22,'' Pawar told reporters on the sidelines of a book launch programme.
''Yes, Kapil Dev will be invited to attend it as he was the captain,'' Pawar said when specifically asked whether the great all-rounder, who has aligned himself with the ICL, will be invited for the function.
Two other members of the world cup winning Team, who are also associated with the rebel league, Madan Lal and Balwinder Singh Sandhu, will also be invited for the grand celebration.
