Bangla opt to bat against Pak in dead rubber

Karachi: Bangla skipper Mohammad Ashraful won the toss and elected to bat in the Asia Cup Super League tie against Pakistan at the National Stadium here on Friday.

Today's fixture is an inconsequential for both the teams with India and Lanka having filled final slots.

Pakistan have dumped their 'non performing asset' Afridi while skipper Malik, who has passed fitness test, is back in the fold.

Surprisingly Bangla decided against trying their bench strength in the dead rubber.

Squads:

Pakistan: Salman Butt, Shoaib Malik (capt), Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf, Misbah-ul-Haq, Nasir Jamshed, Sohail Tanvir, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Abdur Rauf, Iftikhar Anjum and Saeed Ajmal.

Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal, Nazimuddin, Mohammad Ashraful (capt), Raqibul Hasan, Alok Kapali, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mahmudullah, Farhad Reza, Shahadat Hossain, Abdur Razzak and Mashrafe Mortaza.

Match Officials: Ian Gould and Tony Hill. Third Umpire: MG Silva. Match Referee: Allan Hurst.
