Pakistan to probe Asia Cup debacle

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will meet here on July 24 to conduct a probe into the Asia Cup debacle earlier this month.

The PCB's International Cricket Committee will meet with skipper Shoaib Malik, coach Geoff Lawson and manager Talat Ali to find out the reasons behind the flop show.

Pakistan had failed to reach the Asia Cup final after bowing out in the Super Four stage.

The committee will be chaired by Syed Ali Reza and has Lt Gen (retd) Munir Hafeez and Ejaz Butt as its members.

They will also meet the selection committee to discuss issues pertaining to the national team.

Also included in the agenda of the meeting is the case of Test discard Faisal Iqbal, who is facing a Board inquiry for playing in an unauthorised tournament in the United States.

The committee will also discuss several other issues ranging from domestic women"s cricket to the national junior development programme.

Mudassar Nazar, Director of the National Cricket Academy, will give a presentation on development projects taken up by the Board.
