Dalmiya addresses reporters after his victoryNew Delhi: Former ICC and BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya has entered the crciket arena again. He won the Cricket Association of Bengal elections at the 77th Annual General meeting of the board on Tuesday, July 29.

Dalmiya, who has a record of staying at the helm of state association for 13 consecutive years, won by a thumping majority of 71 votes to former Kolkata Police Commissioner Prasun Mukherjee's 47, which paves his way to become the president of the CAB once again. This marks Dalmiya's comeback in the Board of Control for Cricket in India office, from where he was ousted after charges of embezzlement.

The posts of vice-presidents, joint secretaries and treasurer are still to be announced as the counting was on. The elections began at 1900 hrs IST which saw 118 affiliates voting out of a total of 121.

Dalmiya, who was banned for life from representing the Board of Control for Cricket in India in any capacity last year, persisted with his fight against the Indian board after a High Court ruling stayed his ban.
