Injury concerns for England ahead of SA one-dayers

England left-arm seamer Sidebottom ruled out of first one-dayer against SA due to hip injury.London: England suffered more injury woes leading into next week's NatWest ODI series against South Africa.

Nottinghamshire left-arm seam bowler Ryan Sidebottom has been ruled out of Wednesday's NatWest Twenty20 international against South Africa at Chester-le-Street with a hip problem, while Chris Tremlett is also suffering a heel injury.

The left-arm fast bowler did not travel with the England squad to face Scotland in Edinburgh tomorrow and will have a fitness check at the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough on Tuesday. Sidebottom has been suffering from back-related injuries all summer, missing two of the four Test matches.

However, Chris Tremlett has remained with the side despite his heel injury. Yorkshire all-rounder Tim Bresnan has been added to the squad to face Scotland as cover for Tremlett .

Bresnan opened the bowling for England Lions in Saturday's six-wicket victory over South Africa that squared the between the two sides. In his short international career thus far, Brensan has played four ODIs and one T20 in 2006. He suffered injury in the second part of the season and lost his place against for the series against Pakistan.
